Did you know that L’Oreal is one of the world’s largest cosmetics companies? L’Oreal is a French company that was founded by chemist Eugène Schueller way back in 1909. He formulated and sold hair dye to Parisian hairdressers called Oréale, the word that would eventually lead to the company’s namesake.
L’Oreal quickly grew and the company’s focus became research and innovation in the field of beauty. Haircare was where L’Oreal began, but it is not where it ends for L’Oreal. L’Oreal’s products range from personal care such as skincare and bodycare products to fragrance, nail polish, and of course, makeup! For more on L’Oreal’s history and growth, visit their history page for additional details on how they are inventing the future of beauty.
L’Oreal may be best known for its aggressive acquisition history. The company currently owns over 500 brands and its products are sold in many different outlets, from drugstores to online. Some notable acquisitions include The Body Shop, a personal care and cosmetics company, popular drugstore makeup brands Maybelline and NYX Cosmetics, drugstore skincare brand CeraVe, the multi-cultural haircare brand Carol’s Daughter, and IT Cosmetics.
L’Oreal produces affordable cosmetics under the L’Oreal Paris brand which is a mainstay in drugstores across the country. With so many products to choose from, which ones stand out? Today I’d like to discuss some of the best products from the brand, including foundation, concealer, blush, mascara, lip gloss, and more!! Let’s start with some fantastic foundations…

I’ve discussed L’Oreal Paris True Match Lumi Healthy Luminous Makeup (shown above in N1-2 Soft Ivory/Classic Ivory) repeatedly as an affordable dupe for the luxurious Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. Lumi Healthy Luminous Makeup is formulated with vitamins C and E to improve clarity, luminosity, and skin tone. It contains 40% pure water for hydration that lasts all day and L’Oreal’s Liquid Light Technology for an instant glow to the skin.
The coverage is lightweight but buildable to medium coverage. It lasts for up to 8 hours of wear and comes with a Broad Spectrum sunscreen protection of SPF 20 from octinoxate. The foundation is available in 15 warm, neutral, and cool shades. The finish is so pretty and natural.
L’Oreal Paris Makeup Infallible Up to 24 Hour Fresh Wear Foundation is a lightweight, waterproof, transfer-resistant, and sweat-resistant foundation. Whew, that’s a mouthful! This is a long-wear foundation that is buildable, providing medium to full coverage.
It is formulated with oil absorbers that fend off sweat, water and transfer of the foundation. The non-comedogenic color blends evenly and it comes in 30 shades to match every skin tone. It provides SPF 25 Broad Spectrum sunscreen protection from 6.7% octinoxate and 3.6% titanium dioxide.
L’Oreal Paris Makeup Infallible Up to 24 Hour Fresh Wear Foundation is a newer find that I am loving. I purchased it in the cool shade Natural Rose 440 (this shade is a little deeper than I usually wear since it is summer and I am slightly tan). It blends easily with a brush, beauty blender, or your fingers. It wears really well and doesn’t require many touch-ups throughout the day thanks to the medium to full coverage.
The biggest difference I notice between this foundation and True Match Lumi is the coverage. This definitely has more coverage and is a slightly thicker formula while Lumi provides a bit more glow. I am sensitive to chemical sunscreens, but I am able to wear this foundation that is formulated with chemical sunscreen. I also apply a mineral sunscreen prior to using this foundation (and all foundations with sunscreen) for complete sun protection.
L’Oreal Paris Infallible Full Wear Concealer is a full coverage concealer that comes in a whopping 25 shades for every skin tone. The concealer provides a matte finish that covers blemishes, flaws, and other imperfections. It can also be used to contour and highlight areas of the face. They recommend going 1-2 shades lighter to highlight and 1-2 shades darker to contour.
The concealer comes with an extra-large applicator which makes it easy to apply. Use under the eyes to target dark circles and to hide discoloration and acne scars. The formula is waterproof and won’t transfer. Blend with your fingers, a makeup brush, sponge or beauty blender.
I like the matte finish of this concealer and I find that it’s best to apply sparingly since it may crease or look overdone if too much is applied. A plus is the large shade range so this concealer should work with most skin tones.
L’Oreal Paris True Match LUMI Glotion Natural Glow Enhancer (shown above in Light) is one of those products that you never knew you needed until you try it! This lotion is all about the glow. It is formulated with glycerin and shea butter to hydrate and luminize the skin for a natural healthy-looking glow. The Glotion comes in 4 shades: Fair, Light, Medium, and Dark.
I love how this lotion can be used in many different ways. The lighter shades are great for highlighting and the darker shades are great for bronzing or contouring. You can use it alone for a sheer pearlized glow, or apply it to specific areas of your face, such as along the cheekbones or the bridge of the nose. You can also apply it under foundation or mixed with foundation. I like to mix it with moisturizer on no-makeup or minimal makeup days for the perfect hint of glow.

L’Oreal Paris True Match Super-Blendable Pressed Powder (shown above in Shell Beige) is formulated to match your skin tone and texture with 34 shades in the range. Its micro-fine powder can be used in many ways: to blot oil and shine build up (such as in your t-zone), to blend into your skin across your face for a more natural look, or to build layers for higher coverage. There are pearl pigments in the formula to improve your skin tone for a flawless finish.
This powder applies evenly, provides great coverage, and sets your foundation. There are very few powder ranges that have 34 shades, so you should be able to find a shade that matches your skin tone. It works well over makeup and sometimes I apply it alone for the slightest bit of coverage and to even out my skin tone.
L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Radiant Satin Blush with Camellia Oil (shown above in Mauved), is formulated for mature skin. It won’t cake or dry and gives skin a healthy natural-looking glow. It’s a creamy satin powder blush that is formulated with camellia oil. Camelia oil contains high amounts of oleic acid plus vitamins A, B, D, and E. It also contains beneficial omega fatty acids Omega 3, 6, and 9 to support the skin barrier, nourish and moisturize the skin.
This blush does not feel powdery at all thanks to its richly moisturizing formula. While there are only 6 colors in the shade range, I purchased, Mauved, and I am loving this shade. It’s very similar to a discontinued blush from Revlon that I used years ago for which I never found a replacement. I love that you get the convenience of a powder blush but the hydration of a cream blush. I think this blush would be ideal not only for mature skin but also for dry skin thanks to its hydrating qualities.
L’Oreal Paris Paris Brow Stylist Definer Waterproof Eyebrow Pencil (shown above in Dark Blonde) creates natural-looking brows with its 0.5mm tip. The pencil draws on thin brow hairs to fill in sparse areas of your brows. It comes in 7 shades so that you can find the right shade for your brows. It’s also waterproof and can be used by those with sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.
I love how easy it is to use this brow pencil. The thin pencil easily glides across your brows and deposits color without having to tug at your brows. It comes with a spoolie brush, which is perfect to smooth out any mistakes or tone down the color to complete your look.
L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara (shown above in Black Brown) has been featured multiple times on this blog for its ability to create long lashes with lots of volume. The applicator wand has a wavy brush that has 200+ bristles to create the full fan effect on your lashes. A single coat creates a more natural look, but you can apply multiple coats for a more dramatic lash look.
I think one of the best qualities of this mascara is that it leaves your lashes soft and doesn’t crack and flake around your eyes. It really does create long lashes and performs better than mascaras that are more than twice the price.
L’Oreal Paris Makeup Infallible 8 Hour Pro Lip Gloss (shown above in Blush) is a hydrating non-sticky lip gloss. It is formulated to last up to 8 hours. The collection comes in 20 sheer, luminous shades that range from nudes to reds to berries. The lip gloss comes with a patented flexible Petit Couer applicator to contour the lips and provide precise application.
Although this doesn’t last 8 hours for me (most lip glosses don’t), I really enjoy the sheer shimmery shade Blush. It’s very natural-looking, not at all sticky, and leaves my lips shiny and moisturized. It also adds a pop of shine on top of lipstick.
If you prefer a more pigmented matte shade in lip color, L’Oreal Infallible also offers a Pro-Matte Gloss. This gloss is a highly pigmented whipped matte lip color that comes in 10 shades.
Final Thoughts on L’Oreal Drugstore Makeup
What really stands out to me about L’Oreal drugstore makeup is that they offer large shade ranges especially in their base products such as foundations and concealers. Finding the right shade for my skin in base products is always such a challenge. Yet L’Oreal has so many options that I always find a product shade that works with my skin.
I’ve been loving many products from L’Oreal lately, especially some newer finds such as L’Oreal Paris Makeup Infallible Up to 24 Hour Fresh Wear Foundation and L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Radiant Satin Blush with Camellia Oil. How about you? What are your favorites from the brand? Let me know in the comments.
