South Korean skincare, makeup and bath and body products, or K-Beauty products, are not new to the US, but K-Beauty brands continue to expand their offerings here. K-Beauty brand innisfree produces products made from responsibly sourced natural ingredients from Jeju Island in South Korea.
Sephora has recently started carrying select skincare products from innisfree and I purchased their Best Seller Discovery Set to try a few of their star products. But first, since I really love their brand story and it contributes so much to my experience of their product, here’s a brief introduction to their brand.

The innisfree Story
The innisfree name comes from William Butler Yeats’ poem The Lake Isle of Innisfree, which describes the desire to leave urban life for a beautiful island, just like Jeju Island. The volcanic ash soil and balanced ecosystem on Jeju Island allow for flourishing green tea fields which provided the spark for the beginnings of innisfree. Since the company’s inception, 15 ingredients have been responsibly sourced from the island using proprietary extraction methods. This process preserves the potency and purity of the ingredients from plant to finished product.
Innisfree’s skincare collections center around natural ingredients, such as Green Tea, Volcanic, Orchid, Tangerine and Green Barley. Innisfree is passionately committed to fair trade, eco-friendly practices and preservation efforts for greener living. For a visual of the brand’s history, check out this video:
Korean women are known for their love of skincare, and the K-Beauty skincare routine can include 10 or more steps. It starts with the double cleanse and moves on to masks, essences, serums, moisturizers, and sunscreens. So it is of no surprise that Sephora started with a core group of innisfree’s skincare products.
innisfree Best Seller Discovery Set includes three of its bestselling products:
- 0.67 oz/ 20 mL Pore Clearing Clay Mask with Super Volcanic Clusters
- 1.01 oz/ 30 mL Intensive Hydrating Serum with Green Tea Seed
- 0.67 oz/ 20 mL Youth-Enriched Cream with Orchid
These products are produced without sulfates SLS and SLES, parabens, formaldehydes, formaldehyde-releasing agents, phthalates, mineral oil, retinyl palmitate, oxybenzone, coal tar, hydroquinone, triclosan, and triclocarban.

innisfree Pore Clearing Clay Mask with Super Volcanic Clusters is a clay mask that goes to work on the skin and draws out impurities. It does the following:
- Minimizes the appearance of pores
- Absorbs sebum
- Gently exfoliates
- Deeply cleanses
- Evens skin tone
This bentonite and kaolin clay mask contains Jeju Volcanic Clusters. These clusters are mineral-rich hardened hot lava fragments. They are included in the formula to absorb excess oil and impurities. Innisfree’s proprietary method grinds these fragments into particles smaller than pores in order to remove excess sebum without drying out your skin.
The mask also contains one of my favorite acids, lactic acid, for exfoliating dead skin cells. The serum also contains walnut shell powder, which normally I would not like, but I gently apply this mask to my face without scrubbing, so I did not find that it was abrasive to my skin. Still, I think that the product could do without this ingredient and just use lactic acid as a chemical exfoliator rather than adding walnut shell powder as a physical exfoliator.
The one thing that really impressed me with this mask was that my skin did not feel overly dry after using it. Clay masks usually leave my skin feeling dry and tight but my skin felt smooth and supple after application. My pores appeared smaller and my skin looked brighter.
Made with the very green tea from Jeju Island that I previously mentioned, innisfree Intensive Hydrating Serum with Green Tea Seed hydrates with Jeju Green Tea Extract and Jeju Green Tea Seed Oil. The skin’s moisture barrier is supported by panthenol, and it contains humectants glycerin and betaine for extra moisture retention.
I found this gel-like serum super lightweight and it absorbed quickly. It left my skin soft, plumped and ready for makeup application. This serum is scented, which I liked, but please be aware of this if you are sensitive to scents.
innisfree Youth-Enriched Cream with Orchid is a peptide-rich cream that contains anti-oxidant rich Jeju orchid. It helps to firm the appearance of skin and protect skin from environmental stressors.
It contains niacinamide (one of my favorite ingredients) for anti-aging and anti-inflammation, antioxidant vitamin E for photoprotection against UVB rays, hyaluronic acid from the Jeju green soybeans for hydration, and squalane and glycerin for added moisture.
I think this is one of the richest gel creams I’ve ever used. This brings a huge hit of moisture to my skin and I love the potent antioxidants for added anti-aging benefits.
Final Thoughts on innisfree Best Seller Discovery Set
Even though the product sizes are small, this kit is a great introduction to the best-selling skincare products of the innisfree brand. I think this would be a great set for all ages. Teenagers and 20-somethings might like the clay mask and hydrating serum. But it also brings the anti-aging benefits with its Youth-Enriched Cream with Orchid. This set really covers all age bases and as a bonus is currently very reasonably priced at $18.00.
Have you tried any other innisfree products? I’m very curious about their makeup and bath and body products!
Thanks for reading, and until next time…
