Physicians Formula recently introduced new items to their Rosé skincare collection, and since I’ve always enjoyed Physicians Formula’s skincare products, I thought I would give a few of their Rosé products a try. I purchased the oil-free serum, night cream and two of their newest products: a gel cleanser and eye cream.
All of the products that I tried from the Rosé collection share the same core active ingredients: Rose Water, Kakadu Plum, and Goji, which help with brightening and tightening skin. Rose Water calms, soothes and hydrates your skin. Goji contains polysaccharides and antioxidants that help the skin appear more radiant. Goji helps to hydrate the skin and supports in tightening and firming the skin.

Kakadu Plum appears to be the real star in these formulations. This trendy ingredient competes with other Vitamin C products in terms of brightening capabilities. Kakadu Plum, found in Australia, has the highest Vitamin C content of any fruit, more than 50% concentration of Vitamin C compared to oranges. Talk about a superfruit!
Kakadu Plums are also known for their antifungal and antibacterial properties which are ideal for those who have oily skin and deal with acne or breakouts. They can also protect the skin from damage incurred from free radicals, which are due to environmental causes such as pollution or UV exposure.
All of these ingredients sound promising, but do they work? Here are my thoughts after I put the products to the test:
Rose Take the Day Away Cleanser is a creamy pink gel cleanser for brightening and hydrating your skin. Gone are the days when cleansers just clean skin or remove makeup. This cleanser is made to brighten and tighten your skin. Its active ingredients include Kakadu Plum, Rose Water, and Goji. In addition, it contains Sea Mayweed to dissolve makeup and for soothing redness and irritation.
I am not a huge fan of gel cleansers, but I really like this cleanser. This cleanser works well as a second cleanse after my first oil-based cleanse. I am always on the lookout for a gentle non-foaming second cleanse and this fits the bill perfectly. It removes all traces of makeup that remain after my first cleanse, calms and soothes my skin in preparation for the rest of my skincare routine.

This is an interesting serum. As the name indicates, it is oil-free which is ideal for oily/combination complexions. It has beautiful packaging that includes a dropper for applying the serum. The serum itself is a pearlized iridescent creamy consistency (they call it pearluminous), so I was worried that it would be too shiny or sparkly on my skin. But once it is applied, it sinks right in and leaves your skin with the slightest bit of a glow. The serum’s active ingredients include Kakadu Plum, Rose Water, and Goji.
It layers well with other skin products and doesn’t cause any pilling. The instructions indicate that it can be used alone, over or under makeup. Its low price will keep this serum in my skincare collection so that I can add it or rotate it with other treatments in my routine when my skin needs extra brightening.
Rose All Night Ultra-Rich Restorative Cream is a super-rich, dare I say luxuriously textured night cream. This texture is reminiscent of another luxury cream (yes, Creme de la Mer) in relation to its application. The instructions indicate that it should be warmed between your fingers for 5-10 seconds prior to applying to achieve maximal absorption. This is an important step, since the warmth from your fingers will thin the product out a bit, making it easier to apply and allowing it to sink into your skin.
It contains the same hero ingredients as the other products I tested including Kakadu Plum, Rose Water, and Goji. In addition, it contains a wrinkle-relaxing ingredient called Sea Mayweed. The company notes that Sea Mayweed is an alternative to fillers. Fillers are quite different than face creams, but perhaps the point is that the ingredient can help soothe the skin making appear plumper, helping to improve the appearance of wrinkles. Sea Mayweed can also help calm sensitivity, inflammation, and redness in the skin.
This night cream feels much more expensive than its affordable price tag. It moisturizes, moisturizes, and moisturizes some more. It is very rich and while it was too rich for my skin when testing it in the summer, I will certainly reach for this product when the air gets colder and my skin becomes drier.

Eye creams are tricky. Do you really need one at all? That is a question to be discussed at another time, but Physicians Formula has created an eye cream that contains the active ingredients found in its other Rosé products: Kakadu Plum, Rose Water, Goji, plus Sea Mayweed. The eye cream is pink in color and described as “pearluminous”. That word is the perfect description. It appears slightly pearly when applied but after you pat it around your orbital bone, it simply appears luminous. They describe the face serum the same way and I agree that both the eye cream and the face serum are pearluminous. This eye cream is gentle yet hydrating and works well under makeup.

In the same collection, Physicians Formula also offers Rosé All Day Moisturizer SPF 30. Like the other products, the moisturizer contains Kakadu Plum, Rose Water, Goji, and Sea Mayweed. I didn’t purchase it for testing since it contains chemical SPF which does not agree with my skin.
While I liked all the products, I imagine that I will get the most use from the cleanser, since I’ve been searching for a gentle second cleanse. The serum and eye cream with their pearluminous color are nice for brightening. The night cream will be perfect for the cold weather months when my skin needs as much hydration as possible.
Physicians Formula Rosé skincare products are great drugstore options if you are looking for anti-aging skincare that won’t break the bank. The products that I tested are hypoallergenic, paraben-free, gluten-free, dermatologist tested, clinically tested, vegan, cruelty-free.
