In a continual attempt to introduce cleaner products into my beauty routine, I have been researching cleaner haircare products including shampoos, conditioners and styling products. When I saw that French celebrity hairstylist Frédéric Fekkai recently introduced a clean haircare collection, I was thrilled since I’ve used and loved his products over the years.

The One Pure Collection
Five years in the making, Fekkai’s The One line now has a shampoo, conditioner and hair mist that are all clean and non-toxic. The One Pure haircare collection contains greater than 95% naturally-derived ingredients. The products are vegan, gluten-free, cruelty-free and 100% fragranced by nature. The collection is free of silicone, parabens, phthalates, and sulfates.
The Pure – Fragrance
I always have high expectations when it comes to the performance of Fekkai products but also when it comes to the fragrance of Fekkai products. They always smell so good!
Fekkai’s shea butter collection was and still is one of my favorite haircare scents. I remember when they introduced a body cream with their shea butter fragrance. It sold out after Oprah decided it was one of her favorite things and the cream was selling for crazy amounts on eBay. I still love that fragrance to this day.
I must admit, I love luxuriously scented hair products. For me, the scent contributes to the entire experience. So when I heard that The Pure collection was 100% fragranced by nature I wasn’t sold. But, needless to say, I was hoping that this collection did not disappoint. I am happy to report that it’s just what I would expect from Fekkai. The scent is a bit hard to describe – light and herbal and just so clean and beautiful.

The Pure Shampoo
The Pure Shampoo removes impurities and oil while gently cleansing the scalp and hair. The shampoo is non-stripping and is formulated with natural ingredients and plant extracts. Aloe-vera is very gentle on the scalp and hydrolyzed quinoa protein and Pro-vitamin B5 hydrate without leaving any unwanted build-up. The shampoo is formulated for fine to medium hair types.
The shampoo lathers well and I absolutely love the light natural fragrance. The thin formula washes out cleanly without leaving your hair feeling heavy. I love the gentleness of the shampoo, and specifically the inclusion of soothing aloe vera.
The Pure Conditioner
The Pure Conditioner detangles and moisturizes with coconut-derived conditioners, jojoba oil, avocado oil, and shea butter. Rice extract shields hair from sun damage while antioxidant edelweiss extract protects hair from free-radical damage and other environmental pollutants.
The consistency of the conditioner is thicker than I expected and feels like a hair mask. But even though it is a thick conditioner, it leaves your hair feeling light and soft and very manageable.
The Pure Mist
The Pure Mist detangles and manages flyaways while hydrating hair. It contains a holistic protection complex for UV, pollution and heat protection. It leaves hair soft, smooth and shiny. Vitamin B is extra effective when paired with avocado oil, quinoa, and coconut oil in this collection.
The mist should be applied to hair when damp. You shake to activate and spray 8″-12” from your hair. For best results, spray from mid-length to the ends. The mist is light and nourishing. It leaves my hair shiny and tangle-free. It does not weigh my hair down at all or leave it greasy.

The One Pure Shampoo, Conditioner and Mist – Final Thoughts
I was not sure whether this clean haircare collection would work well for my hair. I have straight hair that tends to get frizzy and fluffy if I don’t use products that are designed to fight frizz.
These clean products left my hair so manageable and smooth, that I did not need to reach for smoothing hair oil like usual. My hair wears well on the second day after washing too.
Fekkai The One Pure Introductory Kit
These are luxury haircare products so they are not inexpensive. It’s good to see that Fekkai offers an Introductory Kit for The Pure collection that allows you to try all three products at a reduced price. This kit includes The Pure Shampoo (2 oz), The Pure Conditioner (2 oz) and The Pure Mist (1 oz) if you want to give the products a try.
Have you tried clean or non-toxic haircare products that you like? If so leave me a comment…I’d love to know!
